My name is Hayley Svensson (she/her) and I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oklahoma's Health Promotion Research Center. I earned my Ph.D. in Social Psychology at Rutgers University where I was in the Regulation, Action, and Motivated Perception (RAMP) Lab.
I am interested in how people respond to setbacks and obstacles during goal pursuit as well as how we can leverage motivation science to address larger societal issues and inequities.
Talk given at the 2024 Eastern Psychological Association (EPA) Annual Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In my primary lines of research, I examine:
Antecedents and consequences of goal disruption (e.g., goal disengagement)
Strategies for mitigating the negative effects of goal disruption
Equity and societal issues through a motivation science lens
